-------------Troubleshooting Cylindrix------------------ (Answers to common problems) -------------------------------------------------------- Q: Help! My screen is black and nothing is happening! A: Your computer is off...turn it on. -------------------------------------------------------- Q: Sometimes when I play from Windows95 it all of a sudden jumps to Windows and puts Cylindrix in the background! A: Pressing certain key combinations will allow you to jump back and forth between Windows programs. To disable this right click on the icon you use to load Cylindrix (or the Dos prompt icon you use if you call it from the shell) and go to properties. Then go to the misc thing, and at the bottom you will see some checkboxes for windows shortcut keys. Make sure there are no check marks by key combinations you use in the game ------------------------------------------------------- Q: Cylindrix won't run! It says math coprocessor not found! A: That's because a math coprocessor wasn't found. Read the box, math coprocessor REQUIRED. -------------------------------------------------------- Q: Aren't you being a little rude? A: No. -------------------------------------------------------- Q: Cylindrix is running REALLY slow! A: Well, if you are running on a 486/66DX (minimum system) it should run ok...(around 12fps in low detail mode). Unless you have a nice Pentium you shouldn't run the game from Windows95, exit to dos instead. (For those of you who don't know...to exit to Dos hit the start button, then go to shut down, then go to restart the computer in MS-DOS mode...it doesn't really restart the computer...it's just a little joke) -------------------------------------------------------- Q: Cylindrix is running REALLY FAST!!! A: Well, if you have a super fast computer you might also want to exit to Dos to play Cylindrix. Inside of Windows95 we were unable to trap the timer to make a frame rate ceiling correctly. Exit to Dos and the game should run at a reasonable speed. (See above question on how to restart (wink wink) the computer in MS-DOS mode) -------------------------------------------------------- Q: I can't shoot my guns and fire at the same time with my CH Flightstick Pro! A: In order to facilitate the hat, multiple buttonpresses don't quite work right. This is a limitation of the Joystick itself, not of Cylindrix. -------------------------------------------------------- Q: Cylindrix won't work with my video card! A: Yes it does, you don't know what you're talking about. -------------------------------------------------------- Q: Certain keyboard combinations won't work! Like if I strafe while moving left, I can't move forward! A: It's hard to believe, but different PC's have different combinations of keys that won't work. I don't know if it's the keyboards, or the BIOS, or the PC itself...I have NO idea. All I know is that it's not my fault ;) If you play any other game, you will see that the same combinations of buttons won't work. -------------------------------------------------------- Q: There's no texture maps! What up? A: There's no texture maps because we didn't have CPU time left over for 'em because the GAME IS REAL 3D BABY!! We're not 2D frontin' like 3D! You're all FRONTIN'!!! LIVE WITH IT!!!!!!!! -------------------------------------------------------- Q: John, what the hell is wrong with you? A: It's 3 A.M. three weeks before the production deadline! How am I supposed to act? -------------------------------------------------------- Q: This AI is absolutely awesome! You're a genious! A: I know. -------------------------------------------------------- Q: Cylindrix keeps crashing! What do I do? A: I know, it does that all the time. If you are running Dos 6 or below(hehe) it will probably crash (just kidding) --------------------------------------------------------
